I know. Nobody asked for this.
I know. Nobody asked for this.
After observing a mescaline user having a very vivid experience last friday, I was inspired to create a music playlist to go along with their experiences during their trip. I asked them to collaborate, and we had many back-and-forth discussions on the vibe of the music during the experience and different tracks that would suit the mood. The finished product can be found here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4suhmMfZf3ITNsfOfNh9XL
If you have any feedback, please let me know! I'd love to improve it wherever possible.
Saturday, which means it's time for our weekly radio program, "Jaap & Max On Air!". This week's episode was particularly entertaining, according to our expert opinion. We covered Henk Krol becoming a vegetarian, "Dilemma op Dinsdag" #374 and we discussed a Genroulette which was somewhat different than what we're used to. Have a listen, and don't forget to tune in next week!

Mescaline (or formally 3,4,5-Trimethoxyphenethylamine) is a psychedelic substance. If you're very interested in what it is and how it works, I'll gladly link you to the Psychonautwiki article. I won't go into details, but I got the opportunity to observe a user as they were under the influence of the substance, from ingestion to sobriety.
They described the experience as very mellow and warm. About halfway through the peak of the effects, they wanted to describe one of their thoughts to me. They told me; "What if the perception of time is actually one of our senses? Just like smell, touch, vision, etc.?". We had a small discussion on the possibility of it being a phenomenon of cognitive function, but we soon laid the subject to rest.
I got in contact with them the following day, and I asked them how they felt. They told me they felt somewhat unproductive, but not in a bad way. They noted it as a positive experience.
I can see why some people start blogs, maybe it's to try to inform the world on their wonderful hobby or their exciting life, or maybe they just really crave attention. This blog probably falls in the latter category. I highly doubt anyone will ever actually be interested in this sort of thing, but maybe I'll look back at it one day and cringe really hard.
Today marks the 25th day of the "targeted-lockdown" here in the Netherlands. I've been sent away from my internship, and my work on music festivals can't continue (because parties are no longer allowed). I figured that writing may help clear my head for a bit. I've seen a couple of my friends become very stressed and anxious.
While I haven't had the social isolation affect me in such a way yet, spending my time and energy on improving my English and general writing skills may be a fun way to get some benefit out of all this free time.
